There are two important functional tests for LCD panel in the production process.
One is the final test in the array process, and this is the functional test of TFT (Thin Film Transistor) circuit which has been integrated on the glass substrate and the OPEN/SHORT test of the wires. The array tester and the array prober are used for these tests. (Refer to Figure 1)
Another is the final test of the Cell process. This is the confirmation of the panel operating condition by dynamically operating a panel in which liquid crystal has been inserted and displaying a test pattern on the panel. This is called "Dynamic operation test", and it tests the chromaticity, the color irregularity (mura), the contrast etc. The testing system has two types the automatic testing system to test the test pattern by using CCD camera, and the visual testing system to test it by operators' eyes.
